Dear Friends, On October 22nd, Morris Habitat for Humanity celebrated 35 years of empowering families through affordable homeownership. One of our first homeowners, Octavia Chavis, spoke at the event and told us how in the mid-1980s, she and her husband, Willie, moved from apartment to apartment with their three young sons. Even though both worked full-time jobs, homeownership was out of their reach. Dear Friends, Thirty-five years ago, a group of Morris County residents recognized the need for affordable housing in our community and established Morris Habitat for Humanity to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Inspired by our hardworking homeowners -- and powered by volunteers, donors and partners -- Morris Habitat has grown and flourished. Since our founding, we have helped build, repair or preserve homes in partnership with 661 families, and we regularly engage more than 13,000 volunteers a year.
