Dear Friends, On October 22nd, Morris Habitat for Humanity celebrated 35 years of empowering families through affordable homeownership. One of our first homeowners, Octavia Chavis, spoke at the event and told us how in the mid-1980s, she and her husband, Willie, moved from apartment to apartment with their three young sons. Even though both worked full-time jobs, homeownership was out of their reach. Dear Friends,   I’m reminded every day how blessed I am and why we do the work we do. Our homeowner partners are often those whose jobs take them out into the community, mostly front-line workers in retail, hospitals, grocery stores, doctors’ offices and delivery folks.
